Transylvania Trekkin'

This cost includes:

Accommodation & all meals for duration of trip
+  Transfers & transportation
+  Experienced English-speaking trek leader & guide(s)
+  Entrance fees
+  Vehicle support (if required)

+  £50 donation to the RHM project in Iasi

Sponsorship - although it's up to you and your chosen charity to determine how much money to raise, we do recommend a minimum sponsorship amount of £500. Many trekkers have raised over £1,000 - click on fundraising tips for useful tips and encouragement.

Please note that we do not include flights in our tour cost. This is because lower individual fares can often be found directly with the airlines.  Booking your flights separately also allows you   more flexibility over travel dates and     departure    points. Many of our clients like to stay on in Romania to visit other areas or friends etc.  However, we do have much expertise in flight  reservations to Romania and we will be very happy to assist you in finding the best available options.   Please refer to our flights page for details.

Transylvania Trekkin'                                 Itinerary

Day 1:  Flight from UK to Bucharest. Transfer to Brasov (approx 3 hours) for overnight stay. Dinner, pre-trek briefing and getting to know your fellow trekkers will be followed by a short walking tour of the old, historic town.

Day 2: Our challenge starts with a brief visit to the Black Church before our climb up the old road to Poiana Brasov, Romania's premier mountain and ski resort. Then after descending  towards Cheisoara we pass through the Cheile Rasnoavei Gorge before an easy ascent through Poiana Secuilor to the Trei Brazi lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation. The panoramic views over the Southern Carpathians from here are truly breathtaking.

Day 3: This morning we go down  to Predeal, the highest town in Romania (1060m). After a little time in the town  we will continue on the other side of the valley with an ascent into the Clabucet Mountains for lunch at Susai lodge. Then it's a climb up to the Clabucet ridge and magnificent views of the Bucegi massif before descending   through the Azuga Valley to Sorica lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 4: This morning is a little easier as we will be  driven  by road through the Prahova Valley  to the resort of  Sinaia to visit Peles Palace,  once a summer residence of the former Romanian royal family. In the afternoon, it's boots on once more as we climb up  to "Stana Regala" and its spectacular views over the Bucegi Mountains. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Sinaia.

Day 5:   Today we will unearth the facts and fiction about Count Dracula as we  visit Bran Castle, a residence of Vlad Tepes Voda (the Impaler).  After a short shopping session for souvenirs such as Dracula vodka and a fang or two, we continue our trek over the hills and valleys of Moeciu, one of the most beautiful landscapes of Romania, before our celebration at a local country lodge and our last night's stay.

Day 6: We bid farewell to the mountains of Transylvania as we head back to Bucharest for our return flights to the UK. If there's time, we shall take a short tour of Romania's capital city before making our way to Otopeni International airport.

We leave Romania...until next time?

                                              La revedere, drum bun!
